Instructions
1.Material treatment: The surface of the wood to be bonded needs to be cleaned to ensure that it is free of impurities such as dust, oil and wood dust. If there is grease on the surface of the wood, it can be wiped with special wood cleaner. For rough wood surface, it can be appropriately sanded to increase the contact area of the glue and improve the bonding strength, but clean off the wood chips after sanding. 2.The moisture content of the wood has a great influence on the bonding effect, it is generally recommended that the moisture content of the wood is between 8% - 18%, and the moisture content of the wet material using PUR adhesive should be more careful not to be too high, otherwise it will affect the curing of the glue and the bonding performance.
3.Environmental requirements: It is recommended that the temperature of the construction environment should be between 10℃ and 30℃. If the temperature is too low, the activity of the glue will be reduced and the curing speed will be slowed down; if the
temperature is too high, the glue may be cured too quickly, affecting the operation time. At the same time, environmental humidity is generally controlled at 40% - 70% is appropriate.
4.Equipment selection: PUR adhesive usually needs to use professional glue gun for glue application. There are two types of glue guns: manual and pneumatic. Manual glue gun is suitable for small area and small amount of glue application; pneumatic glue gun is suitable for large area and continuous glue application, which can control the flow of glue more stably.
5.Insert the glue stick into the glue gun and preheatthe gun so that the glue reaches a suitable flow state (generally the
preheating time depends on the power of the gun and the characteristics of the glue, about 5 - 10 minutes).
6.Apply the glue evenly on one of the bonding surfaces of the wood. The glue can be applied in lines, dots or waves. For example,line gluing is used for long joints, where the glue is applied in a continuous line across the surface of the timber; dot gluing is used for smaller joints, where the glue is applied in dots at regular intervals; and wave gluing combines the two, with the glue being applied in the shape of a wave, which provides a more even distribution of the glue. The thickness of the glue is generally controlled at about 0.2 - 0.5mm.
6.After applying the glue, two pieces of wood should be spliced as soon as possible, when splicing, make sure that the bonding surface fits closely, avoiding gaps or misalignments. You can use a fixture to fix the spliced wood, the pressure of the fixture should be moderate, generally keep between 0.3 - 0.5MPa, to ensure that the bonding surface of the full contact, but will not be squeezed out too much glue.
